This exceptional Antique Caucasian Kazak Kurdish Runner, woven around 1900, is a striking example of the bold geometric artistry and outstanding craftsmanship for which the finest Caucasian village weavings are celebrated. Its elongated proportions make it an ideal hallway runner while preserving the powerful tribal character that distinguishes authentic antique Kazak rugs. The ivory field is anchored by a dramatic procession of three large, elongated hexagonal medallions in rich terracotta and sky blue. Each medallion encloses intricate geometric motifs, stylized latch-hooks, and symbolic tribal devices representing protection, prosperity, and continuity. Between the medallions are smaller geometric ornaments that create an engaging rhythm along the runner's length. The spacious ivory field provides a vivid contrast to the saturated medallions, while the wide borders frame the composition with an energetic sequence of angular vine motifs, colorful rosettes, and classic Caucasian guard stripes. The palette features brilliant shades of coral red, sky blue, ivory, soft sage green, golden yellow, chocolate brown, and deep navy, all derived from natural vegetable dyes that have matured beautifully over more than a century. Handwoven with high-quality hand-spun wool, the rug possesses a firm, durable weave and a lustrous pile that has aged gracefully. The crisp drawing and excellent preservation reflect the skill of its tribal weavers and the quality of the materials used. A beautiful and highly decorative Caucasian tribal runner, this piece combines timeless geometric design, authentic craftsmanship, and exceptional visual impact, making it an excellent addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
