This exceptional late 19th-century Persian Qashqai rug is a superb example of tribal artistry, woven around 1890 with remarkable precision and outstanding decorative appeal. The design is dominated by a striking series of large hooked diamonds arranged vertically across a rich indigo-blue field, each filled with an intricate assortment of geometric ornaments, symbolic motifs, and stylized tribal emblems. The ivory stepped medallions create dramatic contrast against the deep blue ground, while smaller rosettes, crosses, protective devices, and colorful geometric forms lend the composition both energy and balance. The field is enclosed by multiple finely drawn borders featuring traditional tribal motifs rendered in warm shades of madder red, ivory, camel, sky blue, and soft gold. The rug displays the bold, confident drawing and exceptional craftsmanship for which the finest Qashqai weavings are admired. The high-quality hand-spun wool possesses a soft, lustrous texture, and the naturally dyed colors have mellowed beautifully over more than a century, creating the rich patina that collectors highly value. Presented in good condition for its age, the rug exhibits only honest wear consistent with an authentic 19th-century tribal weaving. Its structure remains sound, the colors are vibrant, and the intricate design is exceptionally well preserved, making it an excellent choice for both collectors and sophisticated interiors. This is a highly collectible antique Persian Qashqai rug, combining superb tribal artistry, excellent color harmony, and an impressive degree of originality. Its striking geometric design and outstanding visual impact make it a timeless decorative piece as well as a significant example of late 19th-century Persian weaving.
