Antique Turkish Oushak rugs have been woven in Western Turkey since the beginning of the Ottoman period. Historians attributed to them many of the great masterpieces of early Turkish carpet weaving from the 15th-17th centuries. However, less is known about what happened to production there in the eighteenth and early 19th centuries.
This Rug is Fair excellent condition with wear throughout the rug, cleaned and no stained, the ends and bindings of the rug are intact as original and there has not been any repairs. There are no tears, breaks or holes.

A court manufacturer was set up in the Izmit, Kerman weavers where imported to train the local weavers, therefore Kerman designs predominated.

However, less is known about what happened to production there in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. When things become clearer toward 1900, the Oushak region re-emerges as a major center, this time for room-size decorative rugs.
